HOUSE AT WHALE BEACH 2012

PART II ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT @ UTZ SANBY ARCHITECTS

WHALE BEACH, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA

The site is located on a steep slope overlooking Whale beach, Sydney with far reaching views, East over the Pacific Ocean.

The brief was to provide a family weekend retreat, that would allow the site and views to be fully utilised.

The accommodation is planned over three levels, following a previously developed courtyard typology which is suited to the exposed location and sloping block.

Early in my employment at Utz Sanby Architects, as an Architectural Assistant Part II,  I was exposed to the construction & contract administration of the house. On site experience consisted of regular site visits with the architect - where I had the opportunity to understand the project goals, drawings, details and participate in finding construction solutions.

The project followed a traditional procurement route with full architectural services, using the ABIC standard form fixed price contract. The house was successfully completed in 2012.
