HEADINGLEY STUDENT APARTMENTS 2011

HEADINGLEY, LEEDS, ENGLAND

The site lies within Leeds' most well known student area, in a conservation area, adjoining the boundary to Leeds cricket stadium, and fronting a main arterial route into Headingley.

The brief was to renovate two Victorian semi detached houses in disrepair and provide further accommodation at the rear , totalling 14 apartments, with landscaping and parking. The apartments were to be let as student accommodation.

The deign looked to restore original features of the existing two dwellings, including internal re configuration of spaces, and also required construction details to ensure the apartments met UK building regulation for fire, sound, ventilation & day lighting.

As a Part I Architectural Assistant, I was involved in the building regulation application, contract signing and the day to day contract administration of the project on site, under the supervision of the Architect, John Lawson. I was a participant in all weekly site meetings, observing construction techniques and project management. The project was managed under a JCT Minor Works contract, and was successfully completed in 2008.
